Seat Cushion:
Basotect's® two decisive properties for its use in upholstered furniture are fire resistance and elasticity. The fact that Basotect® foam is flame resistant (German Construction Material Classification B1) without the addition of flame retardants is attributed to the high nitrogen content of the resin.

Basotect's® does not melt or drip upon exposure to flames. It becomes charred with only slight smoke formation and does not show any afterglow. In national and international regulation fire tests Basotect® earned the highest classification that can be attained by organic substances.

Basotect's® favorable fire behavior also shows in component tests and in model fire experiments.

The unique filigree spatial network structure consisting of slender webs accounts for the high flexibility and elasticity of the material, which is by nature hard and brittle. The greater elasticity of this material also goes hand in hand with greater processing and design freedom, so that the BASF foam lends itself very well for durable and comfortable upholstered furniture.
